Keyboard shortcuts

Settings → Shortcuts lists the commands that can carry a key binding, and lets you record your own.

Not every command is rebindable. The list here is a fixed set: the eight commands that ship with a default binding, plus the editor line operations, the two paste/link commands, and the periodic-note commands — which all arrive unbound. Everything else in Altretta is run from the command palette by name. The full breakdown is in the keyboard shortcuts reference.

Customize a shortcut

Open the Shortcuts settings

Go to the Shortcuts category of Settings. Each command shows its current binding, or — if it has none.

Record a combination

Press Record next to the command, then press the keys you want. Esc cancels.

Resolve any conflict

If the combination is already taken, both rows are highlighted and Altretta warns you that shortcuts conflict. Reset the individual binding, or use Reset all to return every command to its default.

Prefer not to memorize keys? The command palette (Mod + Shift + P) runs any command by name — and for most of Altretta it is the only way in, so it's the binding worth knowing.

Where bindings are stored

Your bindings live on the device, shared by every vault you open on that machine. They do not travel with a vault folder, so set them up on each computer you use.
