What is Altretta
Altretta is a second brain you can prove. Your notes, decisions, and knowledge live as Markdown files you own, on your own computer — no lock-in, no cloud requirement. On top of that foundation Altretta adds three things a normal notes app can't: AI you can trust, a cryptographically verifiable history, and publishing anyone can verify.
If you've used Obsidian or Logseq, Altretta will feel instantly familiar — same Markdown, wikilinks, backlinks, graph, canvas, daily notes, plugins. The difference is everything built around your notes: every answer is cited, every change is signed, and every published page can be checked against its source.

The idea in one line
Your knowledge is yours. Your AI is yours. And everything leaves proof.
Pasting your notes into a chat window burns tokens and trust — you can't tell what the model actually used, and you can't prove what it saw. Altretta connects the AI you already pay for (Claude, GPT, Gemini, local models) to your vault over MCP, so every answer quotes the exact source it came from and carries a signed provenance anchor. Altretta ships no LLM of its own — it's a pure, verifiable memory layer.
Everything Obsidian does — and more
Altretta covers the full surface you expect from a top-tier knowledge app, then goes further.
Write & organize
A live-preview Markdown editor, wikilinks and embeds, tags, properties, Bases (tables/cards/list), tabs and panes, canvas, daily notes, templates, and a command palette.
Your knowledge graph
Backlinks, a local and global graph, a 3D star-map, and auto-generated Maps & Manuals — backed by a real semantic graph, not just wiki-links.
AI you can trust ✦
Connect your own model over MCP in one click. Grounded, cited answers with an honest groundedness verdict, a "what your AI sees" trust view, and an activity log.
Verifiable knowledge ✦
An Ed25519-signed action history: time-travel, diff and restore recent versions, and prove exactly what changed and when. Removals are signed retractions, not silent erasures.
Verifiable publishing ✦
Turn any part of your vault into a hosted site with a verify URL and the 証 Verified badge — readers can confirm it matches the source.
Encrypted team brain ✦
Share a vault whose note contents are end-to-end encrypted, with four roles and cryptographic revocation. Enterprise SSO available.
Code Cartography ✦
Point Altretta at a codebase and it maps your symbols, cross-file relationships, an Impact Radius ("what breaks if I change this"), and doc/decision drift.
Signed, sandboxed plugins
Extend Altretta with plugins that are signed, sandboxed, and permission-scoped — you always know exactly what a plugin can touch.
The ✦ sections are Altretta's differentiators — capabilities neither Obsidian nor Logseq offer.
