Settings
Altretta puts every preference in one consolidated settings surface, organized by area — no hunting through scattered menus for the switch you need.
Earlier notes apps spread configuration across half a dozen places. Altretta deliberately unified it: open Settings once and everything — how the app looks, how it responds to your keyboard, how the editor behaves, and how your account and AI are connected — is grouped in clearly labeled areas.
The Settings window is organised into these categories: Account, Plan & subscription, Appearance, Editor & vault, Plugins, Shortcuts, AI & connections, Language, and About (which is where the app version and update controls live).
Two things people often look for are not in Settings. Switching vaults has its own surface, opened from the vault name; Settings only shows the current vault's path, read-only. Installing and managing plugins happens in the Plugins view in the left sidebar; Settings → Plugins holds only the safety switches.
Most of what shapes your day-to-day setup — themes, layout, and shortcuts — is local and needs no account. You only sign in for paid features. See Account & AI connections.

Tune the editor and per-vault behavior — how notes look and behave as you write.
A note on where settings live
Your notes are always plain Markdown files you own. Your app preferences are not stored with them: settings and layout are kept per vault on the device, and theme, accent, fonts, custom CSS, shortcuts and interface language are kept globally on the device, shared by every vault. None of it travels when you move or sync the vault folder. See Vaults & workspace for the full picture of what lives where.
